House of Bread was created as a result of the vision of Pastor Charles W. Quann of Bethlehem Baptist Church .  He desired to perform more extensive community outreach and serve the underserved in our society.  Pastor Quann approached several members of his congregation with the vision and asked them to research and develop the idea.  On July 12, 2005 a temporary board consisting of five members established the House of Bread non-profit organization.

From this early effort, the House of Bread continues to evolve into an organization that promotes self-esteem, self-fulfillment and self-sufficiency, providing resources to communities and helping others to help themselves.

Our approach, working with individuals and families to contribute to their personal and community development, utilizes a wide range of strategies to ensure self-sufficiency is the foundation of all House of Bread’s programs.
